When Our Waters Thrive, So Do We

Salt and Soul is a student-led initiative focused on coastal awareness, water stewardship, and public health education in Florida. We bring together data, tools, and local action to help people understand how the health of our seas is directly connected to our own, and how small, informed choices can make a real difference.

Track Coastal Water Quality Across Florida

Explore fixed coastal monitoring sites and locations where recent water quality concerns have been reported. See where red tide, harmful algal blooms, bacteria, or pollution have been detected, and use the map to plan beach trips, study local ecosystems, or check conditions near your Florida community.

Meet the Founder

I founded Salt and Soul to share my passion for marine conservation and the connection between ocean health and human health. I am currently a 12th-grade student at The Bolles School in Jacksonville, Florida. Growing up along the coasts of Florida and California gave me a firsthand appreciation for the beauty of our oceans and the importance of protecting them.

After a summer internship with UC San Diego Marine Science, I was inspired to create a platform that educates others about marine conservation, encourages coastal stewardship, and highlights how healthy oceans support healthy communities. Through Salt and Soul, I share educational resources, environmental news, and opportunities for others to get involved in protecting our coasts.

I plan to pursue studies in environmental science and global health, with the goal of protecting marine ecosystems while improving the health and well-being of communities around the world. I hope Salt and Soul inspires others to recognize that caring for our oceans is also an investment in the future of our planet and the people who call it home.
